Jessica Rutherford, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist
Since graduating in 1998, my focus has been on continuing education and offering individualized treatments to help my clients in their daily lives. Working in both spa and clinical settings throughout the years has helped me identify ways to offer effective treatment of soft tissues while keeping the environment and approach soothing and serene. As a therapist, I bring my whole focus to every session, meeting clients where they are in their journeys and working toward individual goals for treatment.
My work doesn’t finish when you leave each session, I have home exercises and stretches that will help you to maintain results and feel your best.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long of an appointment should I book?
Appointment times include intake, assessment and remedial exercises, so it is recommended to book 60 or 75 minutes minimum for an initial appointment and then we can create a plan for future treatment after the first session.
What is lymphatic drainage and how do I know how if I need it?
MLD is used to relieve swelling by coaxing lymph fluid from your tissues to your functioning lymph nodes. Unlike traditional massage, lymphatic drainage massage uses light pressure to mobilize the lymphatic system, which lies directly beneath the skin. No oil is used.
MLD follows a specific sequence, starting with the main drains in the body, including the lymph nodes in the neck, groin and armpits. The goal is that by massaging an area where there is no swelling, the congested lymph fluid will move from the area of swelling because you’ve created space for it. The lymphatic system then increases it’s capacity, assisting with reduction of excess fluids, viruses, bacteria, toxins and cellular waste.
MLD may be helpful if you are experiencing:
- Swelling
- Bloating
- Digestive issues
- Inflammation and arthritis
- Injuries
- Post surgery
A complimentary 15 minute discovery call can be booked to discuss whether MLD is indicated for you, and if so, which approach you will likely benefit from.
What is Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage massage?
This is a full body manual lymphatic drainage treatment that enhances your body’s immune function, improves digestion and increases elimination of cellular waste. Both Brazilian and Vodder techniques are used to optimize results.
Essential oils with supportive properties are included with this treatment.
The Brazilian approach has the added benefit of extra time spent in draining the deep abdominal lymphatics. Many clients experience reduced abdominal bloating and puffiness, leaving a sculpted effect.
How many sessions do I need to book for lymphatic drainage?
Lymphatic drainage works best when sessions are booked once a week for the initial 2-3 weeks and then there is often the opportunity to space out sessions for maintenance, depending on the concern.
